Tuesday, July 28, 2026 – I had the privilege of hearing Dr Yousef Khoury from Gaza speak at the Uniting Church building in Parramatta (Sydney).
After addressing our community on “How can Christians support a just peace in the Holy Land?”, I asked Dr Khoury to expand on a key point from his talk — what he calls “theologies of terror”. I asked him how we are to confront such theologies (citing, specifically, Christian Zionism) when our church leaders refuse to confront it as a theological error.
Dr Khoury’s response was clear: that the church has always been a grassroots movement, and faithful witness begins with ordinary Christians speaking truth.
