Israel has launched a heavy bombardment on Beirut for the first time since entering a ceasefire with the militant group Hezbollah.
The attack came hours after Israel issued evacuation warnings for a Beirut suburb, vowing to retaliate against strikes it said came from Lebanon.
What’s next?
French President Emmanuel Macron has vowed to speak with US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about maintaining the ceasefire.
Israel’s air force has launched an attack on the Lebanese capital city of Beirut, in the the first heavy bombardment since a ceasefire between Israel and the militant group Hezbollah began.

The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) said it hit a drone storage facility in the area belonging to the Iran-backed Hezbollah.
The strike, which was heard across Beirut, produced a large column of black smoke and followed an evacuation order by the IDF for the neighbourhood, vowing to retaliate against strikes which it said were launched from Lebanon into northern Israel
