World Day of Prayer for Palestine – 1 March 2024 The World Day of Prayer is an international ecumenical Christian laywomen’s initiative. It is run under the motto “Informed Prayer and Prayerful Action,” and is celebrated annually in over 170 countries on the first Friday in March. The movement aims to bring together women of various races, cultures and traditions in a yearly common Day of Prayer, as well as in closer fellowship, understanding and action throughout the year.” Five years ago, an ecumenical group of Palestinian women in the Holy Land came together in prayer to respond to the invitation to write the 2024 program. The 2024 world of prayer year was marked for PALESTINE. We will be praying for Palestine every day for the next 12 months. Their theme is “I Beg You… Bear With One Another in Love,” based on Ephesians 4:1-7. This program calls us to bear with each other in love, despite all difficulties and oppression. On Friday 1 March 2024, Palestinian Christians were invited to speak in churches across Australia to share their faith and personal stories from Palestine. We are proud of the emerging Palestinian Christian leaders in Australia sharing their stories and their faith with the Anglo Australian Church. We couldn’t be happier to bridge the 2000 years of Christian missionary work that our mother Church, Jerusalem began at Pentecost. We feel we have come full circle, for the descendants of the first Christians to share the message of Jesus to the descendants of the early European converts. The message from Palestinian Christians is loud and clear to the wider Church: hear the cries of the oppressed and occupied in the Holy Land and stand in solidarity with the Palestinian people.
